We also chat with Archie artists Dan Parent and Fernando Ruiz about their new creator owned project, Die, Kitty Die! as they are under the spell of the Geek Seat. Sunday Funnies - The Fast Show

I'm not sure exactly how I missed it all these years, but I've recently been introduced to The Fast Show. Funny stuff! Especially if you are fan of Monty Python and British humor. Here's a sample...

Sunday Funnies - Kevin Smith

Kevin Smith is one funny dude! He's made some hilarious movies to be sure, but I think he's also one of the best monologists around. I had the pleasure of seeing him in person at DragonCon many many years ago (just after Mallrats was released on video) and I have been a fan of his narratives ever since. His stories are interesting, he has great timing in his delivery and most of all, he's not afraid to tell the truth. In fact, he can be too candid at times.

If you have not checked them out already, I recommend viewing An Evening with Kevin Smith, An Evening With Kevin Smith 2: Evening Harder, and Sold Out: A Threevening with Kevin Smith. If you get the chance to see him in person, do it. Last month, he performed at Carnegie Hall. I heard awesome reviews, but I do not think it was recorded (why not???). Smith will have a panel at SDCC this year and he's on a mini-tour this fall. No Atlanta dates have been announced as of yet. Visit ViewAskew for more details.

If Kevin is not coming to a city or town near you, do not fret. You can hear him Scott Mosier on the weekly SModcast via iTunes or Quick Stop Entertainment.

Sunday Funnies

Recently discovered from the archives, a colossal battle between two cultural icons! Produced sometime in the early 80's, I felt it was my duty to detail the conflict that no other would dare. With apologies to Jim Davis, Ernő Rubik, and fans of correct spelling everywhere, I give you...

Sunday Funnies - Fanboys

It is hard to believe that it was ten years ago this week that Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace was released in theaters. To honor that wild and crazy time, the Weinstein Company has finally released the comedy Fanboys to DVD! I first heard about this film four years ago and have been waiting to check it out. There have been numerous reports of unfavorable test screenings, re-shot footage, and battles between the filmmakers and Harvey Weinstein. Last year, it was announced the DVD would contain both versions of the film, but I have not confirmed that is the actually the case. All the above should be enough for any real fanboys to utter "I have a bad feeling about this," but I have heard some good words about the film from those who have seen it.

I was hoping to see Fanboys this weekend, but it appears I will have to wait just a little while longer. Though the DVD is on sale at fine stores everywhere, it can only be rented at Blockbuster. I am eager to check it out, if for no other reason than to see Kristen Bell in a Slave Leia outfit!

Sunday Funnies

In honor of the release of Star Trek, here are a couple of pics that I thought I'd post in public before someone decides to use them as blackmail material one day. Below is a snap from the 40th Anniversary Celebration in 2006 hosted by Galactic Quest and IKAV Nemesis. It was taken during my entry in the Shatner Impersonation Contest.

I came in third.

Thanks to Klingon Mistress Koloth for the photo!

And speaking of Klingons, here I am dressed up for Halloween circa 1995:

Instead of auditioning for a role in the next Trek movie, perhaps Michelle and I could star in a reboot of Beauty & the Beast!

Sunday Funnies

Who better to feature on today's Sunday Funnies than two of the funniest people I know? A few years ago, two college friends of mine decided to take a stand-up comedy workshop and the results were put up on YouTube. Feel free to laugh with them, or at them...

Trust me, both are even funnier after a few beers. My hats off to both for doing this workshop and performing in front of an audience.

Sunday Funny (Not really)

Today is my fortieth birthday! Hard to believe I have been on this planet for over four decades. Unfortunately I have not been able to celebrate due to an unwelcome birthday gift I received this weekend - stomach flu. I've spent most of this weekend in bed or in the bathroom and the thought of eating cake makes me want to vomit.

So what's so funny about it? According to my horoscope for this weekend, "the Moon is conjuncting with an errantic Uranus."

I think that is the most accurate astrological prediction I've ever read.

Now if you'll excuse me, the stars are calling yet again....

Sunday Funnies - Farewell Opus!

Today saw the last Opus strip from Berkeley Breathed. If you do not get the Sunday paper, you can see the finale at Comics.com, though the final panel is at the Humane Society's website.

As a tribute to the adorable waterfowl, here's one of my favorite series of strips. From 1985...
