Introducing Hula Lu!

Humble Hula Lu is not only the head waitress at Tiki Z.'s lounge, but the star attraction! She has a passion for dance that transcends the average Hawaiian hip sway. There is no known form of dance that Hula has not been able to master. She is also a practitioner of various martial arts, so she is as deadly as she is beautiful. So remember to tip this waitress! Like the song says, "The way she moves her hips to her fingertips, I feel I'm heaven bound. And when she starts to sway, I've gotta say, "She really move the grass around."

You can read more about Hula Lu and the rest of Tiki Z.'s crew in TIKI ZOMBIE coming soon!

Introducing Tattoo Balloo!

Tattoo Balloo is the head musician at Tiki Z's lounge. He is a master percussionist who can sooth your soul as easily as he can groove you into a frenzy! He's the kind of guy who speaks softly and carries a big drum, but is more than capable of providing muscle when the occasion calls for action. Tattoo is the first person Tiki Z. can remember meeting after the curse hit, and he has been a steady companion ever since.

You can read more about Tattoo Balloo and the rest of Tiki Z.'s crew in TIKI ZOMBIE coming soon!

Introducing Tiki Zombie!

You may have heard the HUGE announcement on the most recent episode of the ESO podcast, but if not, I am proud to introduce the world to the first comic from New Legend, TIKI ZOMBIE!!!

Sick and tired of all the zombie books out there? Relax and have a drink with with TIKI ZOMBIE! Written by Michael A. Gordon with art by Peter Cutler. Travel to the exotic island of Mooga Bali where legend has it, lies the entrance to Avaiki (the underworld). The place is home to strangeness, and perhaps the strangest of all is the protector of the island, a cursed lounge owner named Tiki Z. He does not remember his life before becoming undead, but he's no mindless zombie. At least, I would not call him that to his face! He does not crave brains, but merely a good time and if you're very lucky he'll come to your rescue and make you a drink!

The first issue of TIKI ZOMBIE will be published in early 2011, but I am happy to announce that a preview of the book will be available at the Wizard World Atlanta Comic Con the first weekend of December! Until then, I will release a character promo image each week on my blog and my various social networks. Keep checking back for more images and news!

Countdown to Halloween - Epilogue

Halloween 2010 has come and gone and I believe I have recovered enough for the extremely busy month ahead. I want to thank the folks at CountdowntoHalloween and I hope everyone who checked out the "treats" on my blog this year were not disappointed. I admit I was not as organized as I would have liked, but I have some ideas for 2011 that I hope will more than make up for it. In addition to the blog, this year's Halloween was a good one for me. I gave away over 50 mini-comics to boys and girls (and even a few adults!). Rereading comic adaptations of Bram Stoker's classic story was very fun. And my Monster Movie Mini Fest was again a success. I loved seeing Tales of Terror and The Curse of Frankenstein for the first time and rewatching The Day of the Triffids. Frankly, The Return of Dracula was not quite to my liking - it was a bit like a an unsuccessful mash up of Dracula and Shadow of a Doubt - but it did not mar the evening in any way.

However, the highlight of the weekend was definitely the premiere of The Walking Dead on AMC! The producers did an excellent job of bring the comic to life and I am looking forward to the rest of the series. Likewise, I will be watching The Simpson's Treehouse of Horror and Family Guy Halloween-themed episodes tonight, as I say goodbye to this year's season and begin the Countdown to Halloween 2011!
